My name is Barbara Afe, and I am an ordained Chaplain with Global Christian Chaplains here in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. I was previously on staff with Youth for Christ, Wichita, Kansas from 2005 until I returned to Hawaii in June of 2009. During those years with YFC, I was the Chaplain of the Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention Facility. My greatest desire is to serve ‘bruised reeds’ and tell them of the great love Jesus has for them. I still keep in contact with some of my ‘little ones’ (as I call them) from my days at YFC through phone, email or on Facebook. I recently completed a year commitment at the Oahu Correctional Center, as a Bible teacher in their Chaplaincy program. I am certified in CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) and am hoping that sometime this year, Chaplain Michael Berry will be available to provide the class here on Oahu for others to be certified as well. This training, though geared toward community disaster response, is just as useful in counseling those whose lives are critically in need of stress management. Broken reeds, if you will. If you feel I could be of service to you, please feel free to contact me. I would love to be of assistance to you, as His Holy Spirit leads.
